Mgahinga National Park / Mgahinga gorilla National park is the smallest National Park in Uganda that covers 33.9km.sq and is located in the South western part of Uganda. The park was founded in 1991 and happened to be one of the few national parks in the world that habour Mountain Gorillas the rest being Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Uganda, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, and Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The park is also blessed with a unique type of primates known as the Golden Monkeys which can also be found in Volcanoes National Park. this makes golden monkeys in Uganda to only tracked from Mgahiga gorilla national park or Simply Mgahinga national park.
Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla national park: Mgahinga gorilla national park is the smallest national park in Uganda, located in the southwestern region of Kisoro district, bordering Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The national park was gazetted in 1991 and covers a total area of 33.7 square kilometers, which is comprised of different vegetation types like Montane forest, montane woodland, bamboo, afro-montane, animals like forest elephants, buffaloes, duikers, bushbucks, bush pigs, giant forest hogs, primates like mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, and different bird species, among others.
Golden Monkey Trekking in Mgahinga gorilla national park is an active and exciting activity that involves moving on foot into the forest in search of the habituated golden monkey families and, once found, spending one hour with them in their natural habitat. Mgahinga gorilla national park is located in the southwestern part of Uganda in Kisoro district and is the only protected area in Uganda that harbors endangered golden monkeys. Golden monkeys are also found in other destinations, like Volcanoes national park in Rwanda, Virunga national park and Kahuzi Biega national park in Democratic republic of Congo. They are active and playful primates which feed on bamboo shoots, branches, ripe fruits, and insects and always jump from one tree to another.
